Hello. My name is Ricky Williams.

If you want to install a dome light for a little extra light, this write-up thread will help you.

Depends on what "YOU" buy for the parts of this install, but I bought a set of LED under-the-car light set from Checkers Auto Parts to make my dome light.

In the 1st picture, I have a 13/16ths hole drilling bit, my stock interior piece, a pen, and the LED light.

On the back of the stock interior piece where i am planning on inserting my LED, I had to measure around the clip that retains the stock interior piece back to it's stock location. *If you are installing anything in your car, please double check your measurements.

In the 2nd picture, I have drilled my hole in the measured location.

In the 3rd picture, I had successfully drilled my hole. I did a test fit, just to make sure that my LED light would recess in the desired spot.

This is the back side image.

Now, to find your + & - wires to connect the LED to, please use a voltmeter and find the + & - wires in the harness on the back of the rear view mirror.
Once you have found the correct wires, splice into the harness using splice connectors and electrical tape. (Found at any auto parts store)

I ran my wires for the LED from the rear view mirror harness, through the headliner, and to the stock location.

The person who had the Eclipse before me, had splice connectors already in place. All I had to do is find my + & - and connect the LED wires in the correct manner.

After I made sure I couldn't see the wires I had ran, I put the modified piece back in it's stock location. I then opened the door to test if my light was working.

The LED did work.

I then closed my door and waited for the lights to dim in the rear view mirror and on the floor. The LED also dimmed with the OEM lights.
This is the picture of the LED in "OFF" position.

I will be painting the chrome housing grey to match the interior.

Thank you for reading this thread, and good luck with your dome light install.
