This is just a Tech articale for those who dont understand the results of a leakage test. This test is used to find the source of lost compression in your engine.

Tools:
-Threaded adapter to fit into spark plug hole
-Air source and Hose

Before you start the test make sure the cylinder your testing is at TDC (top dead center). Its helpful to have a gauge but if you dont your ears will do just fine. The area that leaking can be felt or heard around some specific locations on the engine.

Air felt or heard at the following locations and their possible causes:
1st)Throttle Valve area..............................Intake valves leaking
2nd)Exhaust system ( Mani, piping etc...)......Bad Exhaust valves
3rd)Spark Plug hole(next to the one your testing........Head gasket or Cylinder head problem
4th)Radiator............................Bad head gasket, cracked block, or Head
5th)And if the piston rings are bad air will be heard leaving the valve covers breather cap or the oil dipstick tube.

Hope this helps some people out...this is all information that I learned attending Lincoln Tech. And I do this on ever vehicle I buy.
