    My 2g Panda

    1998 Eagle Talon Esi
    Purchased 2009 Winchester, VA
    $850 price tag

    *BAD*
The car was in really rough shape when I found it.

Head gasket was blown, auto transmission was howling, wheel bearings howled, every ball joint squeaked, the temp gauge didn't work, no spare tire or windshield wipers.

Not too much rust, nothing I can't touch up anyways.

I have meticulously cared for this car since I bought it. Everyone told me the car was junk and that I should just have it wrecked... That's not me, that isn't fair to the Talon

    NEW
    4 wheel bearing hub assemblies
    ALL control arms w/ball joints
Restored headliner and missing interior panels
Automatic A604 to Manual F5MC1 transmission swap
Performatorque multi layer metal head gasket
    OEM Rear main seal
    ARP head bolts
    OEM water pump
    OEM timing belt
    OEM oil pump & seal
    Heater core w/new hoses
    Radiator
M/T ECU & under hood wire tuck
    A/C unit + lines & charge
Changed ugly muffler back to stock
    EGR Block off plates

The F5MC1 trans in it currently is from my previous 2Gn/t and has 297K on it now. Never rebuilt.

I drive it daily starting in Spring until the 1st or 2nd snowfall and garage her for the cold months.

    STILL NEEDS
    some clean wheels
    painted spoiler
    lowering kit
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
I plan to pull the engine and trans again this winter.
    2.2L stroker
    Hahn portfueler
    Injectors, Megasquirt, etc.
    Transmission rebuild

Looks good. You'll get it all straightened out.
    Later,

A picture of the engine bay before I pulled it out.

(It's really nasty looking I know, trust me it's all getting cleaned up.)

The 2nd picture is where the radiator mounts sit. This is all getting sanded out, cleaned up and fitted for a nice new setup.

I'm currently enrolled in Auto Collision & Repair, so for a project I get to bring my car in on trailer, repaint and wheel out. Get it back to our shop and replace the engine, trans, fuel tank, and radiator. More updates on the way. Just trying to find time between class, studying, working on the shop, etc etc.

    Goal is still July 1st.

    Update:

I finally found some 2Ga twist side skirts online. I get them home today and I'll be sanding them and prepping for paint.

This is how they will look on my 2gb.... Pretty F'n sweet in my opinion.

Update: First day of spring break I spent with the car. Pulled the engine and trans, fuel tank and fuel rails.
Next step is to disassemble the head from block, organizing the engine bay and making room for the new Mishimoto radiator and FMIC. Goal is to clean up the area to my standards. Rust repair, paint and a wire tuck is in order. I've thought alot about powder coating the block white, but I'm still not sure.

    Purchased the engine block.
2.4LEDZ from a 96' Stratus. Slip said it only saw 33k miles before the crash. (structural only)

The trans rebuild is scheduled to be soon. I still need a few new parts for it. (synchros, 3-4gear hub and slider, needle bearings)

Pulling the front bumper to start sanding radiator support, strut towers and measuring IC piping lengths.

Started the engine bay clean up today. Removed cruise control (not pictured) degreased the sub frame, cross member and strut towers.

Started with a wire wheel and went around to all of the rusty areas. It's mostly surface rust thankfully. I do have to weld a quarter sized spot on the passenger tower, afterwards both wheel wells will get 3M rubberized coating to protect underneath for the future. Planning the wire tuck is a PITA. Never done it before, so I hope it turns out well. Once I figure out where everything fits for safety and style, I have to tear it all out and repaint the bay. (sigh)
