First "Tuner" Car Owner 96' Eclipse RS Owner looking for some help <--- Thats me. =]

Well, the subject says it in brief detail I suppose but what ever. I am now the proud owner of a 96' Mitsubishi Eclipse RS and I would like to know some things about the car and learn more about motor mechanics and auto-tuning in general.

What I Know About My Car: * = Feel free to correct, just what I've read, or have no clue about.

1.) It has the Chrysler 420a motor in it.
2.) It has a AEM Cold-Air Intake installed.
    3.) It has a K + N air filter installed.
4.) It has after-market chrome headers.
    5.) It has a full 3-inch exhaust.
6.) The head of the motor was shaved (Don't know if any major significance.) , brand new cams installed.
7.) Has a new clutch that was put in last winter.
8.) Stock the 420a pushes out about 140hp at peak torque. *

I'm interested in learning everything about this car and cars similar to it. And am wide open to ideas and suggestions. What else would/could/should I do to the car to make it a little more up-idy and maybe more fuel efficient. It gets around 35 right now which I think is decent, but I know I can do better. HaHa.

I do have one picture of my motar. Please let me know what you think my next step with this motor and car should be. And what you guys think the

    How many miles?

    Goals for the car?

If you want a reliable car, keep it maintained and up to par.
I decided to go turbo because I have the time and money to watch it fly or fail. By that comment I should have bought a 4g, but I didn't at first.

You could also do the EGR delete. It's easy, cheap and cost effective in the long run. I noticed yours is still intact. The reason I mention this is because my CEL would come on alot because the EGR tube was full of carbon build up. You can always clean the pieces out with an engine degreaser, but you're just putting more money into it by continuously tearing it out to clean it. Most people continue to get a CEL after the delete, but I have a solution to this, I'll post pictures tomorrow from the shop

EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation?) Recirculates exhaust gas to "help improve emissions"

Thats about all i gathered from it. My car had the EGR blocked off.

As you can see, I capped the vacuum end and the return sides. If you leave just this plugged in, I'm 99% sure that you won't throw a CEL for removing the EGR. Once I removed the tubes and the valve itself, I never saw the light come on again.

These are just like the plates I bought. I got mine from ebay. Either way you need to take the actual valve and the runner tube that connects to the intake off. Really simple to do once the Air Intake is removed and some wires are pushed aside.

Honestly you won't notice a difference with the car. The only reason I did the delete is because I was sick of the CEL coming on. If you bought a new unit, by all means use it.

The motor has 95k on it after replacing the cams, all gaskets, shaving the head, new clutch and etc. And this car is pretty clean, it's lowered 2 inch in the front with shorter springs and coils. It's got 17 inch Kyoma rims, black with the chrome tips but I just want a little bit more snap to it I guess, and maybe I shouldn't expect it out of a 4 cyl. but I know all eclipse's got snot if yah do a few things right to them and maintain them. It sounds good the way it is but definently sounds like it should have more going into to tires then what actually is. If that makes sense.
